Dingo’s Woodbadge Project - Overview

Project Title: JOTA/JOTI Event Guide for New Leaders

Project Vision

I have been doing JOTA/JOTI events as a HAM radio operator for the past 20 years in Victoria and the ACT, and joining Scouts NSW as a leader in the last 18 months, it was quite a different experience. I found that there was a lack of resources for new leaders to understand the event and how to run it. This project aims to provide a comprehensive guide for new leaders to run a successful JOTA/JOTI event.

Project Goals

The purpose of this project is to create a comprehensive guide for new leaders on JOTA/JOTI events, including pre-organisation tips and program ideas, to enhance youth participation and global engagement.

Project Objectives

  1. Contact scout leaders from last year’s District JOTA/JOTI event to gather feedback on what improvements could be made. Done, not on this site

  2. Write up programs for cubs and scouts in the district to do prior to JOTA/JOTI and test them with Kanwal Cubs and Scouts - Done, see here

  3. Create a guide document for new leaders detailing the pre-organisation involved in organising contacts for video chats via skype, voice chats via radio, etc - Done, see here
